Founder & Director
CHEN Yang (Chaos Y. Chen) is an art historian and curator from Beijing. Prior to the founding of WiE Kultur, Chen Yang has founded CHAOSPROJECTS | VisualThinking in Beijing in 2005. Chen worked as researcher and curator at Beijing Art Museum (1996-1998), and later, as the Head of the Curatorial Department at the Millennium Art Museum (Beijing, 2003-2004). As visiting scholar, Chen worked at The Asia Society in New York (1998-1999) and Kunst-Werke Berlin (2002) and collaborated with the House of World Cultures (2003).
Chen Yang's curatorial practices include: Driving the Skyline: Frank O. Gehry & his contemporaries (2004), Wim Wenders: The Picture from the Surface of the Earth (2004), Beautiful New World: Contemporary Japanese Art (2005), Mexican Modern (2006), as well as Asian Film Festival, Barcelona (2007). In Millennium Art Museum, Chen initiated OpenForum, an platform for free exchanges.
Chen Yang was the recipient of Henry Luce Scholarship (USA, 1998) and RAVE Curatorial Stipendium (Germany, 2001); served as jury member for CENTRAL Contemporary Art Award (Köln, Germany, 2004) and REAL Photography Award (The Netherlands, 2008).
Artist & Designer
Xinglang Guo, artist from Tianjin, China. She graduated from Bauhaus University Weimar in 2011, holding Mater's Degress for public art. She works often in collective artistic interventions in the public space, as well as group exhibitions and art festivals in Germany, U.S.A., Greece and Bosnia, etc. Last April, her first solo “strahlen. emits. Xinglang Guo”, a light sculpture installation, was opened in WiE KULTUR in Berlin, April 2013.
